Officiating was Rev. Jeff Hoffman, assisted by Rev. Jessie Smith. Interment was in the Tulip Cemetery under the direction of Rose- Neath Funeral Home of Arcadia. Mr. Averett died September 13, 1999, in Arcadia. He was retired from the La. Department of Highways. He was a veteran of WWII in the Army, and was involved in the Battle of Bulge. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. Mr. Averett was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Dimple White Averett; parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Averett; a brother, Blanton Averett; and sisters, Gladys Averett and Mavys Watson. Survivors include one sister, Norma McConathy of Arcadia; a brother, Wilton W. Averett of Arcadia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
