Martin Corie officiating, assisted by Rev. Terrilynn Russ. Burial will follow in Douglas Cemetery. Mrs. Baker died Sunday, June 9, 1996 in Ruston after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Baker was a native of Jackson Parish, having lived in Calhoun for the past 52 years. She was a charter member of the Mount Zion Methodist Church. Mrs. Baker was a community caregiver for the needy and elderly. Survivors include her husband of 58 years: Leon G. Baker of Calhoun; daughters and sons-in-law: Debbie B. Marler and husband James of Meridan, CA, and Joyce B. Thrower and husband Bob Thrower, Sr. of Baton Rouge, LA; brother: David Massey of West Monroe, LA; four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Jerry Baker, Ronnie Massey, Bill Humble, Daryl Thrower, Scott Thrower, and Bob Thrower, Jr. The family will receive friends Monday, June 10, 1996 between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Mount Zion Methodist Church.
