The Shreveport Times - January 1970 JAMES C. BERRY OF RUSTON DIES - RITES SCHEDULED Mr. James C. Berry, 86, of Ruston, died Monday morning January 5, 1970 at the Alpine Nursing Home following a lengthy illness. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Spears Chapel with Dr. Robert S. Magee officiating, assisted by the Rev. Gordie Givens. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Spears Funeral Home. He is survived by one son, William C. Berry of Grand Rapides, Michigan; six daughters Mrs. Cedric King, Mrs. William Simpson both of Ruston; Mrs. Frank Alack of New Orleans; Mrs. Jim Harvey of St. Louis, Missouri; Mrs. Leonard Byrd of Arcadia; and Mrs. C. R. Miner of Germany; two brothers Spurgeon Berry and Pierce Berry, both of Ruston, four sisters, Mrs. F. A. Hinton of Clay; Mrs. Mack Hammons of West Monroe; Mrs. S. A. Thompson of Little Rock, Arkansas; and Mrs. H. T. Patton of Camden, Arkansas, 16 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
