Officiating will be Rev. Fred Wideman and the Rev. Rolly Walker. Interment will be in Doyline Cemetery in Doyline under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home, of Ruston. Miss Cawthon died October 26,1999, in Ruston after a lengthy illness. Miss Cawthon was educated in Bossier and Webster Parish Schools and at Louisiana Tech University (BS 1929, MS 1959) with additional work at Auburn University and Tulane University. Miss Cawthon was a teacher of mathematics in Jackson and Webster Parishes from 1929- 1959, assistant professor of mathematics at Louisiana Tech University from l959-1974, and she was a member of numerous professional organizations such as Delta Kappa Gamma, Mortar Board, and Phi Kappa Phi. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church where she was an active worker in sunday School and women's studies. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Alexander and Maggie Dance Cawthon; her brother, Dr. John Ardis Cawthon; and a nephew John Robert Cawthon. Miss Cawthon is survived by a sister, Lee Cawthon McIntyre of Doyline; a brother, James Dance Cawthon and his wife Juanita Davis Cawthon Of Shreveport; a sister-in-law, Mrs. John Ardis Cawthon of Ruston, a newphew, Richard James Cawthorn of Jackson, MS; two nieces: Marilyn McIntyre Mayfield and husband Earl Mayfield of Ruston and Elisabeth Cawthon and husband John Stephen Saunders of Coppell, Texas; two great nieces, Beth Mayfield Gearheard and husband Nall Gearheard of New Orleans, and Lillie Saunders of Coppell, Texas. Pallbearers will be Gary Acklin, Bob Berguson, Dr. Jack Canterbury, Carroll Cochran, Jerry Griffin, R. Chauncy Howe, James Justice and Dr. Wesley Lee. Honorary pallbearers will be Miss Annis' former colleagues of the Louisiana Tech University Department of Mathematics and Lincoln General Hospice volunteers and staff. Visitation will be October 27,1999, from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, to the Annis Cawthon Scholarship Fund at Louisiana Tech University, or to the charity of the donor's choice.
