EMMETT LEE CRAWFORD

Funeral services for Emmett Lee Crawford, 86, of Dubach will be held at
 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 25, 2013 at New Prospect Baptist Church near
 Dubach with Bro. Mickey Manning, Bro. James Grafton, Bro. Bobby Franklin and
 Bro. Andy Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Colvin Memorial
 Cemetary in Unionville under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home.
 
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 24, 2013 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at
 New Prospect Baptist Church in Dubach.
 
Emmett Lee Crawford was born to Claude David Crawford and Thelma Alexander
 Crawford in Hilly community in Lincoln Parish on July 15, 1926. He passed
 away at sunset on Friday evening, February 22, 2013 at his home in
 Unionville community near Dubach after a brief illness.
 
Mr. Crawford is preceded in death by his parents, Claude and Thelma
 Crawford.
 
Mr. Crawford is survived by his wife, Jerolyn Grafton Crawford of Dubach,
 four sons, Davey A. Crawford and wife (Barbara Barham Crawford); Larry L.
 Crawford and wife (Joyce Popwell Crawford); Stanley G. Crawford and wife
 (Gail S. Crawford); Rocky L. Crawford; Sheila Crawford Barham and husband
 (Bill Barham) and Foster- son, Cecil B. Minor, all of Dubach; two sisters,
 Melba Crawford Barmore and Ruby Crawford Ellis of Dubach; and one brother,
 J.D. Crawford of Dubach; 6 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and
 numerous nieces and nephews.
 
Mr. Crawford was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church where he served as
 Senior Deacon and Senior Adult Sunday School Teacher. Mr. Crawford owned
 Crawford Builders which he took over from his father, Claude Crawford in
 1959. He was a self- employed building contractor from 1959 until he
 retired in 1988 having built many homes in Lincoln Parish area. He was also
 a cattleman and farmer which are skills that he passed on to all his sons.
 After retiring from home building, Mr, Crawford oversaw the Lincoln Parish
 Waterworks District No. 1 in Unionville. He was awarded the Charles L.
 Porter Award in 2004 for Water Operater of the Year. He was also recognized
 by the Lincoln Parish Waterworks District No. 1 for dedicated service as
 Commissioner (1974-1994) and Well Operator (1988-2006)
 
Mr. Crawford was also a World War II Veteran and a member of the Veteran of
 Foreign Wars (VFW).
 
The family appreciates the carving and compassionate care given by Dr. Shane
 Phillips and Dr. Tommy Smith, the staff of the North Louisiana Medical
 Center and the VA Hospital of Shreveport, Best Home Health Care and Hospice
 of Caring Hearts.
 
Pallbearers will be Craig Crawford, Chris George, Clint Crawford, T. J.
 Johnston, Nicky Barham, and Kerry Gaskin. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim
 Colvin, Bill Barham, Davey Crawford, Larry Bullock, and Robert Lonadier.
 
Memorials in his honor may be made to New Prospect Baptist Church Building
 Fund of Dubach, and the Louisiana Baptist Children's Home in Monroe.
