Officiating at the service was Dr. Dan Day, pastor of First Baptist Church, where Mr. Drewett was a member. Mr. Drewett died Thursday, January 29, 1976 at 7:15 p.m. in Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston after a brief illness. He resided at 1304 Mesa at the time of his death. A native of Winnfield, Mr. Drewett was employed as a highway surveyor there. He and Mrs. Drewett moved to Ruston in 1930. On moving to Ruston he became involved in a number of business enterprises, including a cotton exchange, service station operation, mineral, land and timber dealings until his retirement. Mr. and Mrs. Drewett resided for a long period at 608 Eastland Ave. where he developed a tulip garden that became the subject of area newspaper and television coverage and annually drew visitors from a three state area. Mr. Drewett is survived by his wife, Pauline Barham Drewett of Ruston; two sisters, Mrs. Pauline LaCroix of Winnfield and Mrs. Helen Mae Johnson of Ventura, Calif.; two sons, John Clem Drewett of Lake Charles and Jerry Stephen Drewett of Ruston, five grandsons and one granddaughter.
