Elliott Services for Merle H. Elliott, 81, of Downsville will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 7,1999, in Downsville United Methodist Church. Officiating will be Rev. Doug Milliron, assisted by Rev. Homer Bayles. Interment will be in Downsville Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Farmerville. Mr. Elliott died Saturday, December 4, 1999, in Ruston after a lengthy illness. Mr. Elliott was a native and lifelong resident of Union Parish. He was a member of Downsville United Methodist Church, where he faithfully attended as long as his health permitted. Mr. Elliott served on the Administrative Board and was the Sunday School Superintendent for 3O years. He was a teacher and principal with the Union Parish School Board for 31 years until his retirement. Mr. Elliott was granted Educational Degrees from several Universities. He received a Bachelor of Agriculture from Louisiana Tech, Bachelor of Vocational Education from Southwestern University, Master's Degree from LSU, and attained 30 hours plus. Survivors include his wife, Sue Buckley Elliott of Downsville; two daughters, Linda Scott of Shreveport and Suzonne Franks and husband Billy of Ruston; a brother, Travis Elliott and wife Ivelle of West Monroe; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Kathleen Elliott of Bernice; three grandsons, Trey Scott and wife Candace of Haughton, Jody Scott and wife Kelly of Bossier City and Ryan Scott and wife Meshawn of Anchorage, Alaska; a granddaughter, Lindsay Harris of Dubach; great grandchildren, Caylan Scott of Anchorage, Alaska, Dylan Scott of Bossier City and Ashley Tisdale of Haughton; and an expected grandson, Jared Scott due in January. Pallbearers will be Jerry Rugg, Keith Hammons, Harry Hinton, Johnny McFarland, Doug McGehee, Ray Ashby, Fred Hamilton, and James B. Guice. Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Hamilton and all his former students at Downsville High School. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, December 6, 1999, at the funeral home. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation to Dr. Holly Kidd.
