All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Ruston Daily Leader Ruston, LA Monday, October 25, 1999 Wayne Fallin Services for Wayne Fallin, 86, a native of Lincoln Parish, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 26, 1999 in the Kilpatrick Funeral Homer Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Fred Wideman assisted by Rev. Rolly Walker. Special music will be provided by Judy Burt. Interment will be in the St. Rest Cemetery, Dubach, LA (off White Lightening Road) under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Fallin died Saturday, October 23, 1999 at his residence surrounded by his entire family, following a brief illness. Mr. Fallin was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and Hale Memorial Sunday School class. He was a former member of the First United Methodist Church of Pineville, LA where he taught Sunday School, sang in the Men's Choir, and was a member of the Methodist Men. Mr. Fallin was a member of the Ruston Kiwanis Club, and member of the Ruston Masonic Lodge. He was a member, past president, and Fellow of the Soil Conservation Society of America. Mr. Fallin was instrumental in the development of the Lincoln Parish Park, Cotile, Kincaid, and Indian Creek Recreational areas. He was Ruston High School's first recipient of the Honesty and Integrity Award presented by the American Legion in 1931. He was a First Lieutenant in the U. S. Army and was a veteran of WWII. Mr. Fallin retired as the State Resource Conservationist for the USDA Soil Conservation Service. He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Becky Lynn Simmering. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Velma Fallin of Simsboro, LA; two daughters, Judy Woodard and husband Paul of Simsboro, LA and Jeanie Simmering and husband Rick of Pineville, LA; two grandsons, Ben Simmering and Grant Simmering and fiancee' Mandy Rox; one brother, James Fallin of Ruston, LA; four sister, Eva Dell Henry of Dubach, LA, Lucille Dring of Simsboro, LA, Loyce Morgan of Minden, LA and Lettie Canterbury of Simsboro, LA; and numerous well loved nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Jack Stehr, Lundy Cavender, Don McGehee, Neil Walpole, H. L. Henry, Roy Taylor, Denene Stringfellow and Jamie Hopkins. Honorary pallbearers will be Hale Sunday School Class and Kiwanis Club of Ruston. Family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, October 25, 1999 at the funeral home.
