Ruston Daily Leader, Sat. March 10, 1934, price 5 cents, the weather tonight and Sat. unsettled. Robert Walter Franklin, son, nephew in fatal accident. Farm truck overturns and catches on fire, one dies. Franklin succumbs. Little hope held for other two occupants of truck. Robert W. Franklin age 48 well known farmer of the Mineral Springs community was burned to death and his 27 year old son Floyd, Son Jinks Frasier was so badly burned that doctors hold little hope for their recovery when the farm truck driven by the elder Franklin and occupied by the two younger men, overturned and burned quickly Friday night about dark on the Cedertown road ten miles east of Ruston. R. W. Franklin is survived by his widow and eight children, three brothers J.A. Franklin of Ruston, W. L. Franklin of Brownsville, Tx. J. H. Franklin of Vienna, two sisters, Mrs. W. O. Bryan of Minden, Mrs. Julia Bryan of Vienna, Amanda Frasier. Floyd Franklin and Son Jinks Frasier were brought to the Ruston-Lincoln sanitaritum immediately following the accident. Hospital attendants stated Sat. morning that both men sustained deep burns about the hips and lower limbs. Franklin had also sustained severe burns on the right hand. The two injured men were rescued by Joe Futrell, Lem White and Bob Pruitt, neighbors who happened on the scene a few minutes after the crash. Funeral services for R. W. Franklin will held at Mineral Springs Baptist Church this afternoon and will be conducted by the pastor, Rev. M. A. Price. Robert Franklin leaves one married daughter Eula, other children in the family are Brenton, Lannie, Elmo, Annie Ruth, Robert, Roy, William and his widow Belle Franklin. Deputy Sheriff Emmett Leggett, Doctor W. S. Rutledge were called to the scene of the tragedy which occurred on the steep hill leading to Stowe Creek crossing at the old John M.
