All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Ruston Daily Leader - Wednesday, August 13, 1969 Choudrant Boy Killed in Car Mishap ROBERT MADISON GREEN Robert Madison Green, five year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Madison Green of Choudrant was killed at 2 p.m. Tuesday, August 12, 1969 when a loaded feed truck backed over him in the Douglas Community. The accident happened at the farm of Mr. and Mrs. R. A. Ambrose, grandparents of the boy. The boy was following the feed truck on his bicycle as it made a delivery to the Ambrose farm, according to State Police. Police said that the truck apparently pulled into the wrong bend for delivery and immediately began backing up to move to the proper position. As the driver, Ozie Manning, Jr. 26, began backing up he heard a noise, officer said and immediately pulled forward. The boy was bound under the truck, apparently crushed by it. Manning then called the police. No charges were filed. The boy was dead on arrival at Lincoln General Hospital. Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today in the New Hope Baptist Church near Choudrant with the Rev. H. B. Stewart officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick's Funeral Home of Ruston. Other survivors include one sister, Mary Elizabeth Green, and paternal grandmother, Mrs. J. W. Green, both of Choudrant.
