HAYS Elza R. Hays of Lincoln Parish Dies Wednesday Elza R. Hays, 77, a resident of Bienville and Lincoln Parish for all his life died Wednesday, August 5, 1970 after a long illness. Hays was one of fourteen children and his family connections in the area are widespread in public life. He and his late wife, Mrs. Lois Noble Hays, had six children, most of whom live in the Ruston area. He is also survived by his widow: Mrs. Sally W. Hays. The Hays family lived on a farm on Pleasant Road South of Grambling. He will be buried in the family cemetery at the residence. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday in Conger Funeral Home Chapel in Arcadia, with the Rev. Douglas McGuire officiating. One of Hays's sons, David Hays is supervisor of the laboratories at the Louisiana Tech University Agriculture Center, and the other, Elza Hays, Jr., is in the trucking business. A daughter, Mrs. Charles Cook, lives here and her husband is principal of Simsboro High School. Another daughter, Mrs. Calvin Watts lives at the family home and her husband is executive director of the Red River Valley Association, an industrial and development organization in Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and Oklahoma. Mrs. Earl Meyer lives at Pearl River where her husband is an engineer for General Electric. Mrs. Henry Harold Tally lives in Baton Rouge and her husband is a marketing director for a household chemicals company. Other survivors include five brothers: C. E. Hays, and B. T. Hays both of Ruston,. W. T. Hays of Homer, J. C. Hays and C. N. Hays both of Baton Rouge; six sisters: Mrs. E. H. Fisher, Mrs. Roy J. Black both of Ruston, Mrs. T. S. Neal, Mrs. J. W. Miller both of Shreveport, Mrs. B. C. Tebbetts of Marshall, Texas, Mrs. H. C. Breckenridge of Hobbs, New Mexico; 20 grandchildren, and five great grandchildren. Serving as pallbearers for the funeral will be Tommy Watts, Steve Cook, Ray Hays, Billy Hays, James Hays, Clark Hays, Mike Hays, and Arnold Lewis.
