D. Hedgepeth, age 32, assistant superintendent of Lincoln Parish road construction who was killed at eleven o’clock Wednesday morning when a piece of dynamite exploded as he was attempting to relight it on a road job between Hico and Dubach where scheduled to be held from the Baptist church at Choudrant at two o’clock this afternoon with the Rev. W. P. Carter, pastor and the Rev. F. D. Bachman in charge. Hedgepeth had placed six pieces of dynamite under stumps and had lighted the fuse, but when one of them did not explode he went to investigate and reached the fuse just as it exploded. His body was brought to the local undertaker where Dr. W. S. Rutledge parish coroner pronounced is death as accidental. The victim was a native of Lincoln Parish and since his marriage to Miss Sarah Sanderson of Choudrant had made his home with her father who is W. A. Sanderson, police jury member from Ward Four. Surviving him, besides his wife, are a three week old infant child, his father Will Hedgepeth; two brothers, George, who is in Central America; J. C., operator of a sawmill in Lincoln Parish and three sisters, Mrs. L. Wise of Minden, Mrs. G. Gibson and Miss Daisey Hedgepeth. Interment will be made in the St. Rest Cemetery under the direction of B. F. McLure local undertakers with the following pallbearers: Active: Fred Duggan, Jessie Dugan, Byrant Duggan, Hal Harrison, Andy Harrison, Bill Harrison; Honorary: Add Thompson, Bill Deloney, Andy Colvin, Dr. H. M. Harper, Glover Meyers, Carl Reece, B.D. Lomas, and Bert Lomax, Grady Kelley, H. T. Burnside and Dr. F. D. Lydall of Choudrant. Additional Comments: Given and middle names maybe opposite.
