The News-Star May 31, 1999 Mr. Billy A. Hinton Born August 31, 1920 died May 28, 1999 Kilpatrick Funeral Home, Ruston, La. Clay, La - Services for Billy A. Hinton, age 78, of Clay, LA will be at 2 p.m. Monday, May 31, 1999 at the Clay United Methodist Church with Rev. Joe Hunter and Rev. Ken Klemme officiating. Interment will follow in the Wesley Chapel Cemetery. Mr. Hinton died Friday, May 28, 1999 at the Health South Rehab Hospital in Ruston, LA. He was the first person to join the church in the newly constructed sanctuary of the Clay United Methodist Church on July 26, 1928. He faithfully served as a Sunday school Teacher and song leader for many years. Mr. Hinton was a 50 year plus graduate of Louisiana Tech University and an avid follower of all the sports teams. He was also a member of the Louisiana Tech T-Club. He was preceded in death by his parents: Frank A. Hinton and Lela Berry Hinton; two brothers: Harry Hinton and Lawrence P. Hinton and one sister: Mattye Hinton LaGrone. He is survived by his wife of 55 years: Joyce Oxford Hinton; daughter: Joy Telford and her husband Brody of Ruston, son: Douglas Hinton and his wife Donna of Jacksonville, FL; and daughter: Carole Davis and her husband Mike of Ft. Collins, Colorado; two brothers: Berry Hinton of Ruston, and R. Don Hinton of Minden; seven grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be his baseball team "The Clay Cyclones", John Raymond Kavanaugh, Track Kavanaugh, Larry Clinton, Billy Rockhold and Wade Sisemore. Honorary Pallbearers will be James "Bud" Carr, Lloyd Webb, Homer Sisemore, Gary Boone, Carl Atkins, Joe Sisemore, and Alvin Gore. Memorials may be made to the Clay United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
