HOLSTEAD CHOUDRANT, LA - Services for Roy E. Holstead, 78, of Choudrant, will be held at 10 AM Friday, January 5, 2001, at Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Raymond Crofoot officiating. Interment will be in Choudrant Memorial Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mr. Holstead died Wednesday, January 3, 2001 at Ruston, LA following a lengthy illness. Mr. Holstead was a member of the Choudrant United Methodist Church. He served during World War II as a member of the Battery F Anti-Aircraft division of the U. S. Army. Mr. Holstead was retired from the Lincoln Parish Sheriff's office where he served as Chief Civil Deputy for more than twenty years. Survivors are his wife: Helen Green Holstead of Choudrant; daughter: Kathy H. Deafenbaugh and husband John of Bedford, TX; brother: Rex Holstead and wife Vivian of Choudrant; grandson: Joshua Deafenbaugh of Bedford, TX; nephew: James R. Holstead of Niceville, FL; niece: Linda H. Freeman of Choudrant; great-nephew: James Holstead of Niceville, FL. Pallbearers will be Jim Holstead, Shelby Green, George Easterling, Gerald Sanderson, Morton Parnell, and George H. Boyd. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Battery F Anti-Aircraft division of the U. S. Army. Family will receive friends from 5 PM until 8 PM Thursday, January 4, 2001 at the funeral home.
