LODIE KAVANAUGH BROWN HOOD RUSTON, LOUISIANA - Services for Mrs. Lodie Kavanaugh Brown Hood, 85 of Ruston, La. will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, 1988 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston with Rev. Chris Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Hood died Saturday, March 12, 1988 at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston following a brief illness. Mrs. Hood was the daughter of John F. Kavanaugh and Pearl Hinton Kavanaugh. She was the widow of George S. Brown and later married Malcolm Hood, who preceded her in death. She was a retired school teacher and insurance agent. She was a native of Jackson Parish. She lived most of her life in Shreveport and was a Ruston resident for the past 20 years. She was a member of the DAR, Cosmos Club, and UMW. She was a graduate of Louisiana Tech and was the head cheerleader there in the 1920's. Survivors include two sons, George F. Brown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana and J. Dan Brown of Austin, Texas; three sisters, Kathleen Rockhold, Elna Willis, and Linda Jean Rolf, all of Ruston, Louisiana; one brother, James V. Kavanaugh of Tallulah, Louisiana; seven grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Edward O. Rolf, John Kavanaugh, Track Kavanaugh, John Raymond Kavanaugh, W. H. "Billy" Rockhold, Jr., and Prentiss N. Willis, Jr. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until noon Sunday at the funeral home.
