JAMES RUSTON, LA - Services for Mr. Floyd B. James, 83, of Ruston will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 5, 1990 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston with Rev. Rolly Walker officiating, assisted by Rev. Douglas McGuire. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home. Mr. James died Tuesday, July 3, 1990 at his residence after a brief illness. Mr. James was born January 24, 1907 in Gibsland, the son of Mr. and Mrs. T. L. James. He graduated from Ruston High School and the University of Tennessee. Mr. James was employed by T. L. James & Company Inc. from the time he graduated from College. He headed the companies Oil & Gas Department and was a member of the Board of Directors having served as Secretary, President and Chairman of the Board. Mr. James was active in the company until his death. Mr. James was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, the Ruston Kiwanis Club, and active with the Boy Scouts of America. He was a life member of the Board of Directors at the Methodist Childrens Home, the Ruston Hospital Inc. Board of Directors. He served on the Board of Trustees of Centenary College and Southern Methodist University. He also served on the Board of Central Louisiana Electric Company. In the past he had been active in the P.A.R. & C.A.B.L. in the interest of the state. Survivors include his wife: Mrs. Florence Neeley James of Ruston; one daughter: Mrs. Renna Burkhalter of Ruston; two sons: Floyd Benjamin James, Jr. and John Thomas James, both of Ruston; one brother: G. W. "Bill" James of Ruston; three sisters: Helen Love, Mary Burkhalter and Frances Folk, all of Ruston; nine grand-children and eleven great grandchildren. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
