The Ruston Daily Leader, October, 1999 Bertha Seaward Johnson Services for Bertha Seaward Johnson, 92, of Ruston will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 12,1999, in the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating will be Rev. Steve Howery. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Johnson died Thursday, October 7, 1999, at her residence after a sudden illness. Mrs. Johnson was a longtime member of the Presbyterian Church of Ruston. She was born and raised in New Orleans. She was a graduate of Newcomb College of Tulane University. She taught school in Morgan City, where she met her husband. They moved to Ruston in the early 1940s. She was very active as a wife of a Professor and supported activities of La. Tech University. She established a scholarship fund in her husband's name after his death in 1990. She was preceded in death by her husband,T.W."Ray" Johnson. Survivors include two nephews, Gordon W. Seaward, Jr. of Solana Beach, Calif., and Richard S. Seaward of Springfield, Va.; two grand nieces and two grand nephews; and three great grand nephews and nieces. Pallbearers will be Robert E. Holladay, John Emory, Sr., Rodney Johnson, Benjamin Denny, Eric Reed, and Judge Wayne Smith. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday be- ginning at 1:00 p.m. until service time.
