Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the chapel of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston, with Dr. Joe Blair officiating, assisted by Dr. Merlin Merrill. Burial will be in Welcome Home Cemetery in Grayson under the direction of Kilpatrick’s. Johnson was a native of Caldwell Parish, and a 1934 graduate of Louisiana Tech University, where he obtained his bachelor’s degree in accounting. He received his master’s in 1935 and a doctorate in 1958, both from Louisiana State University. He became a certified public accountant in 1948. From 1935 to 1943, Johnson served as instructor and head of the commerce department at Northeast Junior College in Monroe. From 1943 to 1945, he served as an Ensign and Lt. J.G. of the United States Naval Reserves. After serving as an associate professor and professor of accounting at University of Southwestern Louisiana in Lafayette, Johnson returned to Tech in 1948 where he served as a professor of accounting. He later became professor and director of graduate studies for Tech’s College of Administration and Business. Johnson authored numerous publications and was a member of the Louisiana Society of CPAs, as well as two national honorary fraternities, Beta Alpha Psi and Phi Kappa Phi. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ruston. Johnson is survived by his wife, Myldred Simmons Johnson of Ruston; one son, James Robert Johnson of West Monroe; one daughter, Truly Ann Juneau of Lafayette; one sister, Alma Murrell of Columbia; and six grandchildren. He married (1) Mada Louise GOZA on 19 Sep 1937 in Ouachita Parish LA, and (2) Myldred SIMMONS on 27 Dec 1961.
