KIDD MONROE, LA. - Memorial services for Major M. E. Kidd of Monroe will be at 11 a.m. Monday, February 25, 1991 at Grace Episcopal Church with the Very Rev. Fredrick Robinson officiating. Services will be under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Monroe. Major Kidd died Saturday, February 23, 1991 at his home in Monroe. Major Kidd was with the Louisiana State Police for thirty years prior to his retirement. He was in charge of Troop F in Monroe for sixteen years, before being promoted to Major inspector in 1970. He was active in Skeet and Trap Shooting, and is in the Louisiana Skeet Shooting Hall of Fame. He presided as Past President of Pine Hills Gun Club. Survivors include his wife of thirty-nine years, Allie Mae Strickland Kidd of Monroe, La.; a daughter Barbara Alice Beard of Elton, La.; a son William S. Kidd of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren Patrick Beard and Steven Beard, two sisters Sunshine Snyder of Port Angeles, Washington; Peggy Watts of Monroe, La.; three brothers James R. Kidd of Shreveport, La.; O. A. Kidd of Conroe, Texas; Paul Henry Kidd of Monroe, La.; numerous nieces and nephews. Major Kidd was preceded in death by three sisters Margaret Lewis, Grace Lyles, and Virginia Burnside and one brother William L. Kidd. Honorary pallbearers will be retired and active Louisiana State Policemen of Troop F. They are Bailey Grant, George Henry Boyd, O. L. Waltman, Jim Dasher, Sammie W. Colvin and Captain J. V. Byrd. In Lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, Ouachita Parish Public Library or your own benevolence.
