All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Ruston Daily Leader, Tuesday, September 28, 1999 Mildred Batte Lewis Services for Mildred Batte Lewis, 87, of Ruston, will be held Thursday, September 30,1999, at 2:30 p.m. in the Kilpatrick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rolly Walker and Rev. Doug McGuire officiating. Interment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Lewis died September 27, 1999, in Lincoln General Hospital after a brief illness. Mrs. Lewis was born March 24, 1912, in Garland City, Ark., and was a resident of Ruston since 1940. She was active for many years in the cultural life of Ruston. She was a charter member of the Ruston Garden Study Club and a member of the Cosmos Club. She was an active member of Trinity United Church for many years belonged to the Miriam and Ruth Church Circle groups. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Ardis Lewis, and son, Thomas Taylor Lewis. Survivors include one son, William J. Lewis of Ruston; her sister, Lois Batte of Austin, Texas; three grandchildren, Katharine Lewis of Houston, Texas, Cristin Lewis of Rayville, and Lauren Lewis of Ruston. Pallbearers will be Richard N. Lewis, Neil Lewis, W. A. J. Lewis, III, Ray Harris, Larry Ginn and Jerry Morris. Honorary pallbearers will be W.A.J. Lewis, Hunt Lewis and Alex Boyd. Any planned memorials may be made to the Methodist Children's Home or La. Special Olympics. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m.
