Joe Solomon, assisted by Dr. Doug McGuire and Rev. Dave Fortuna officiating. Family graveside services will be Tuesday afternoon at Lisbon, LA under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Mrs. Meadows died Sunday, February 20, 2000 at Saint Francis Medical Center following a brief illness. Hazel graduated from Louisiana Tech and worked as assistant to the registrar where she met and later married Zollie James Meadows on August 6, 1935. After raising her children, Lucy Ann and Marion, she entered LSU and obtained a master's degree in social work. Serving handicapped children with love for many years, she was employed by the Louisiana Department of Children's Services as a clinical social worker. Her home, family, church, friends and work remained her priorities and joy to the end of her life. She was active locally and statewide in the Federated Women's Garden Clubs and United Methodist Women. Locally, she was an active member of the Pierian Club and the Women's Department Club. The Ruston Museum and Habitat for Humanity received her strong support and cheerful labor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Zollie; sister, Irma Watson; brothers, Carlyle and Price Tillery; grandsons, James Allen Braswell and Thomas Marion Meadows. Survivors include her children: Lucy Meadows Deason and husband Temd, and Marion "Bee" Tillery Meadows and wife Amenda. Grandchildren: Walter Eugene Braswell, Mary Braswell Fairbanks and Michael, Amy Meadows Hickman and Allen, James Daniel Meadows and Kristy, Beth Meadows Ferguson and Mark. Great-grandchildren: Elizabeth Williams; Micah, Caleb, Jacob, Jonathan, Benjamin, Samuel, Josiah, and Elisha Hickman; Alexis Braswell; and Samantha and Megan Meadows. Memorials may be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Lea Joyner Methodist Church, or The Louisiana Methodist Children's Home, which were dear to her heart as evidenced in her prayers and gifts. Visitation will be Monday, February 21, 2000 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Kilpatrick Funeral Home in Ruston.
