All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Ruston Daily Leader, Thursday, January 6, 2000 Martha Davis Plummer BOSSIER CITY --- Services for Mrs. Martha Davis Plummer will be held in the Chapel of Hill Crest Funeral Home Friday, January 7, 2000, at 10 a.m. Officiating the service will be Rev. Larry Dean of Mississippi. Interment will be in the Hill Crest Memorial Park under the direction of Hill Crest Funeral Home. The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Thursday evening from 4 until 6 p.m. Mrs. Plummer passed away Tuesday in a local hospital. She was born on July 25, 1925, in Ruston. She began her teaching career at Bossier City High School in the late 1940's. There, through mutual friends, she met her husband, James B. Plummer, Jr. They traveled to Arkansas where she taught briefly, then returned to Bossier City in 1953 to teach in Caddo Parish. She taught at Woodlawn in 1960 when they first opened until she retired in 1973. Mrs. Plummer enjoyed her retirement years outdoors with her family, grandchildren, and the bigfoot Hunting Club. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Bossier City. Mrs. Plummer was preceded in death by her parents, Dr. Paul M. Davis and Lillie Mae Sentell Davis of Ruston. Surviving her is her loving husband of 49 years, James B. Plummer, Jr.; sons, James B. Plummer III and wife Diane, Paul M. Plummer and wife Janet, Kenneth L. Plummer and fiance' Jo Campbell; grandchildren, Sarah, Allison, Elizabeth, Jayme, and James B. Plummer, IV, all of Bossier City; a sister, Lillie Beth Webb of Colorado Springs, Colo., a brother, Dr. Paul M. Davis and wife Frances Bolton Davis of Alexandria; and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be Bubba Barefield, Jim Nance, Robert McNaughton, Dan Haugen, Lynn Arnold, John Thomson, Buddy Bolton, and Glenn Grannan. Honorary pallbearers will be John Bean and Scott Messer. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The Shriner's Hospital for Children, 3100 Samford Ave., Shreveport, La., 71103.
