SANDERS, 91, retired livestock dealer, 1602 Allen avenue, who died at 9:30 a.m. yesterday in a local hospital after a long illness. Graveside services will be conducted later in the day at 1 p.m. at Longstraw Cemetery in Ruston. Sanders, a native of Georgia, had been a Shreveport resident for the past 40 years. He had made his home with Mrs. Minnie Taylor. He served as deputy sheriff of Lincoln parish where he lived for a number of years before coming to Shreveport. Surviving, in addition to Mrs. Taylor, are one son, H. Ray Sanders, Shreveport; two other daughters, Mrs. Charles P. Schultz, Houston, and Mrs. Curt R. Buck, San Antonio; nine grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. [Submitter's Note: John Horatio Sanders owned the general store in Choudrant for many years up until about 1926. He was also said to have been mayor and sheriff at the same time. - Jeffrey L.
