Raymond Crofoot and Bill Sanderson officiating. Interment will be in Choudrant Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Owens Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, Ruston. Mrs. Sanderson died Wednesday, February 20, 2002 in Choudrant, after a lengthy illness. She was a member of Choudrant United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her father, Algie Morton Parnell; mother, Edith Olga Humphries Parnell; niece, Christy Parnell Justus; and sister-in-law, Joy Allen Parnell. She leaves to Cherish her memory, her husband of 61 years, Jack Sanderson of Choudrant, LA; one daughter, Opal Hammons and husband Keith of Choudrant, LA; two grandsons, Tim Hammons of Choudrant, LA and Mark Hammons and wife Carla of Ruston, LA; great granddaughter, Abbie Hammons of Ruston, LA; step great granddaughter, Lacy Richardson of Ruston, LA; step great grandson, Christopher Richardson of Olive Branch, MS; four brothers, Clinton Parnell and wife Celess of West Monroe, LA, James Parnell and wife Francis of Choudrant, LA, Ray Junior Parnell and wife Beverly of Dallas, TX, and Jack Layne Parnell of Houston, TX; two aunts, Viva Pruett of Monroe, LA, and Ruth Ross of DeQuincy, LA; sister-in-law, Clarice Sanderson of Choudrant, LA; and a special sister-in-law, Ruth Sanderson and husband Gerald of Choudrant, LA. Ruth, we cannot put into words the thanks you deserve. You were truly a help to Mother, Daddy and me. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and a host of friends. Maudie Mae went to be with her Savior on February 20, 2002 after a long courageous battle with cancer. She was a homemaker, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She will truly be missed by all. Thanks to the Hospice caregivers for helping Mother, and being an inspiration to all of us. Serving as pallbearers will be Gerald (Red) Sanderson, Morton Parnell, Wayne Brooks, George H. (Bo) Boyd, George Jr. Easterling, Durward Chandler; alternates, Ragan Aswell and Eddie Parnell. Honorary pallbearers will be Bro. Troy Garrett, George (Jake) Williams, Margaret Barrett, Margaret Taylor Cooley, Ruth Sanderson, Mrs. Jo Ann McGivney, and Ragan Aswell. Songs will be performed by Paula Norman. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM Thursday, February 21, 2002 at Owens Funeral Home.
