All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** Monroe Morning World, Wednesday, February 15, 1967 - 7-A Youth Dies After Area Auto Wreck RUSTON (Special) - A Ruston youth who turned his auto off the highway in order to miss a stopped school bus, died late Monday in St. Francis Hospital in Monroe. His brother was injured. State police said George J. Strickland, 17, was heading south on his way to school in Choudrant with his brother, Michael 14, when he came to the top of a hill where a bus was stopped, and veered off and hit a tree. Michael was in "good" condition Tuesday at Lincoln General Hospital with a fractured leg. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Emmanuel Baptist Church with the Rev. A. H. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery in Ruston under the direction of Kilpatrick's Funeral Home here. Survivors include his parents: Mr. & Mrs. George R. Strickland of Ruston; two other brothers: Tim and Mark; a sister: Jill; his maternal grandparents: Mr. & Mrs. J. D. Walton of Farmerville; his paternal grandmother: Mrs. Effie Strickland of Ruston.
