All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** The Ruston Daily Leader, Thursday, September 16, 1999 PHILOMENA ANN THOMAS Services for Philomena Ann Thomas, 77, of Quitman, will be held Friday, Sept. 17,1999, at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Lucy Catholic Church with Father Bob Lelonhardt officiating. Burial will be in the St. Lucy Catholic Cemetery in Hodge under the direction of Edmonds Funeral Home of Jonesboro. Mrs. Thomas died Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999, at her residence. Mrs. Thomas was born in Jamshedpur, India on September 22,1921. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas were married in London, England on April 18, 1945, at the Church of England. After marriage, they resided near the base. When the war was over, Mr. Thomas sent Phil to New York to stay with relatives until he was discharged. When Harold was discharged, he brought Phil to Quitman to make their home and resided there the rest of her life. She was a member of St. Lucy Catholic Church and she worked for a number of years as a nurse at Lincoln General Hospital in Ruston. Survivors include her husband, Harold P. Thomas of Quitman; a sister, Bernadette A. Farrell of Quitman; and several nieces and nephews in England. Pallbearers will be Chuck Allen, Jim Beal, Joey Earle, Rex Johnson and George Nomey. Visitation will be at Edmonds Funeral Home in Jonesboro Thursday from 5 until 9:00 p.m. Prayer services will be Thursday at 7 p.m. in the Edmonds Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
