WEBB June B. Webb passed away on January 24, 2013. Services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, January 27, 2013 at Trinity United Methodist Church in Ruston, LA. Visitation will be held at the church from 2-3PM prior to the service. Born on January 26, 1920, June was the daughter of Willie Walker Baird and John Freeman Baird. She graduated as a Registered Nurse from St. Luke’s Hospital of Nursing in Bluefield, West VA. June was a proud World War II veteran. She served in New Caledonia in the South Pacific as a second lieutenant in the Army Nurses Corps. While stationed there she met and married Army Captain Roy D. Webb in 1944. They were married for 49 1/2 years. While raising her family in Mansfield, LA, June was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 60 years and served her church faithfully in many capacities. After moving to Ruston, La, she became a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. June loved her new church and attended Bible Study, M&M and Circle. June, better known as “June Bug” enjoyed life and brought a sense of fun to any activity. She loved her family and friends without reservation and enjoyed entertaining them with her great cooking. She was an avid reader and gardener, loved to play bridge and any type of card game, enjoyed dancing and especially traveling with the “Girls of October”. Her love of “bling” was appreciated by all who knew her. June found her true calling in the nursing profession and many patients benefited from her TLC in Dr. Segura’s office and in the OR in Desoto General Hospital. After retirement she continued to be a wonderful caretaker to many in her life. In 1994 June was honored as woman of the Year by Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She was recognized for her years of service to her country, her community and her church. June was preceded in death by her husband Roy, long time Sheriff of Desoto Parish, her parents, and her brothers and sister. She is survived by her three children: Pamela Webb, Joe Webb and wife Joy, Linda Tuten and husband Jim; grandchildren Stacey Feken and husband Max, Shannon Sumrall, Kim Webb, and Sara Sumrall; and great grandchildren Sara Grace Razer, Grayson Razer, Sophie Feken and Graham Feken. The family would like to thank all who supported them in love, prayers, and concerns. A heartfelt thank you goes to Tender Touch and PHC Hospice for the care and comfort provided to June and the family. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home and the Methodist Children’s Home.
