WILLIAMS Area Marine Is Killed In Viet Action CHOUDRANT (Special) -Funeral arrangements for Private First Class John W. Williams, 22, of the United States Marine Corps, who was killed in the Viet Nam War recently, are incomplete at Spears Funeral Home in Ruston. Williams, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Williams, Rt. 2,Choudrant, died in the vicinity of Chu Lai Republic of Viet Nam on March 1, 1966. He sustained multiple fragmentation wounds over his entire body from an unknown explosive device while on patrol, according to a telegram from Wallace M. Greene Jr., general USMC commandant of the Marine Corps. Williams graduated from Downsville High School in 1962 and enlisted in the Marine Corps in April 1964. He trained at San Diego, Calif., and had been serving in Viet Nam for eight or nine months. Burial will be in Douglas cemetery near Choudrant. Other survivors include his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Harrison Williams, Choudrant; maternal grandfather, John Templeton, Ruston; three brothers, James Williams Jr., Terry and Charles Williams, all of Choudrant; and two sisters, Mrs. John Roberts, Houston, Tex., and Miss Betty Jean Williams, Choudrant.
