SOURCE: Shreveport Journal, 3 March 1961 Rites Set For Accident Victim Blow on Head Fatal to Hico Oil Field Worker RUSTON-Funreal rites will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Corinth Baptist Church for James Clifton Woods, 36, of Hico, who was killed in an oil field accident Friday afternoon. Workmen on the Arkansas-Louisiana Gas Co. rig located near the intersection of Farmerville and Downsville road in Lincoln Parish, said that a Nipple on a 30-foot piece of pipe the drilling crew was pulling slipped off and fell on Woods head. The heavy piece of equipment penetrated a steel helment and fractured his skull, according to J.J. Bennett, Lincoln Parish coroner. Woods was a member of a drilling crew hired by E.A. Hinton's well servicing company in Homer. Funeral rites will be conducted by the Rev. T.E. Tisdale, and interment will be in Corinth Cemetery under the direction of Kilpatrick Funeral Home of Ruston. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. J.C. Woods; one daughter, Linda Faye; three sons, Jimmy Wayne, Steve Richmond and Ricky Lane, all of Hico; two sisters, Mrs. Ruby Young of West Monroe and Mrs. Dessie McVay of Choudrant; three brothers, Walter E. and Elzy J. both of Duback and Richmond Lee of West Monroe.
