Married – On last Sunday evening at 3 o'clock at the home of the bride's father, J.W. Rinehart, of Sibley, Miss Jessie Rinehart and Dr. W.H. Cook, of Choudrant, were joined together in the holy bonds of matrimony. Rev. J.A. McLees, officiating. Miss Jessie is a most lovely and excellent young lady, and has many friends. Dr. Cook is a successful physician, and enjoys a lucrative practice. May peace, prosperity and happiness ever be their lot, is the wish of the editor of the Age. The Dr. is an intimate friend of ours, while Miss Jessie is first cousin to us, and naturally a grater desire on our part for their future happiness. According to the marriage indexes, Dr. W.H. Cook and Jessie Rhinehart were married March 13, 1898. Additional Comments: Marriages and Obituaries from the Scrapbook of Belle Mills This scrapbook is now in possession of Mrs. Frankie Mills, the widow of Mr. George Mills, who was the nephew of Belle Mills. It is to Mrs. Frankie that I owe thanks for these treasures! Most of these marriages and obituaries (which are clippings) have no dates on them. They were probably taken from the Monroe News, one of the parent newspapers of the modern News-Star or the Progressive Age, a Ruston paper. Most date from the 1890-1910 years, which are now lost to time. These newspapers were never preserved. That makes these clippings even more valuable to researchers. Whenever possible, dates and information clarifying the obituaries have been taken from cemetery indexes at the Ouachita Parish Public Library.
