The Allen Graveyard is located on the Anita Durand Buess tract of the Charles Nelson Durand estate (formerly of Judge Joseph Henry Allen). That part of the tract on which the graveyard is located was formerly the Nickens Place, and the whold of Section 50, T. 7S, R.3E and Section 69, T. 7S, R. 2E was originally the Singleton Headright. The cemetery is at Buess Turn or junction of Harris Road with that part of Louisiana 1032 known as 4H Club Road and that part formerly called Cockerham or Myrtle Road. Both parts were components of the original Baton Rouge and Springfield Public Road. The first person buried in the cemetery were members of the Nickens family but there are no tombstones for them.
