Vol. 3, December 1978 Originally submitted to the FSHR by Pamela Lass THE DAILY ADVOCATE Baton Rouge, Louisiana September 25, 1857 THE FRENCH SETTLEMENT -- At a Democratic meeting called and held in Livingston Parish, at the French Settlement, on Monday, 21st of September, 1857, pursuant to previous notice, for the purpose of ratifying the nomination of Hon. T.G. Davidson, F.E. Guitran was called to the Chair, and L.P. Lobell was appointed Secretary. The object of the meeting having been explained, on motion the following resolution was adopted: BE IT RESOLVED, That we, the undersigned citizens, hereby ratify the nomination of Hon. T.G. Davidson, made on the 15th day of June, 1857, at the city of Baton Rouge, and also approve his course while member of Congress. In November next we will give him our cordial support. On motion it was, RESOLVED, That the Baton Rouge Advocate be requested to publish the proceedings of this meeting.
