Sale of LandMrs. Elizabeth [Richardson Spiller] Wood to Darling B. Cason29 March 1852Be it Known and remembered that on this twenty ninth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and fifty two and in the year of the Independence of the United States of America the Seventy Sixth.  Before me G. T. Raoul, recorder of said parish, and duly authorized [sic] by law to exercise the powers of Notary Public therein, personally came and appeared Mistress Elizabeth Spiller, widow of the late David Wood, dec’d of said Parish of Livingston who did declare and say, that for the consideration herein after expressed she does by these presents grant, bargain, sell, convey, transfer, assign and set over, with a full guarantee against all troubles, debts, mortgages, claims, evictions, donations, alienations, or other incumbrances whatsoever unto Mr. Darling . Cason, also a citizen of said Parish of Livingston, who is there present accepting and purchasing for himself his heirs and assigns, and acknowledging delivery and possession thereof:A certain tract of land situate in said Parish of Livingston on the Natalbany river in T. No. 7 S. of R. no 6 e, containing Three hundred and twenty 80/100 acres, described as follows,Beginning at the N. E. corner of section no. 40 on the bank of the river Natalbany a Magnolia 7 in D, N 31 deg E 25 links, thence Gum 24 in D S 14 deg East 23 links, thence West on the North and old boundary of said section 58, 68 chains to the North West corner a pine 30 in D. S. 18 deg W 35 links a black oak 7 in D, N 75 deg E, 40 links thence 8 1/2 E. on the old an West boundary of said section 47 chains to the point of the divisional corner a pine 30 in D. N 55 deg E 55 links a black oak 3 in D. S 34 deg E 45 links, thence E 83, 15 chains to the River, this being the dividing line a magnolia tree 15 in d, a beech tree 20 in d, vendor acquired said property by purchase at a sale of the property of Jerry Spiller, dec’d.To have and to hold the said property unto the said purchaser his heirs and assigns, to their proper use and behoof, forever; and the said vendor for herself her heirs & assigns said land to said purchaser his heirs and assigns, shall and will warrant and forever defend against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever by these presents, the said vendor moreover subrogating the said purchaser to all the rights and actions of warranty which he has or may have against her own vendor or the vendors of her vendor hereby authorising the said purchaser to exercise the said rights and actions in the same manner as she might or could have done.This sale is made for and in consideration of the sum of Four hundred Dollars cash in hand paid the receipt hereby acknowledge by the vendor.Mortgage certificate shows the property free from any Mortgages.Done and passed at the town of Springfield in the presence of Chas. C. Kennedy & W. A. Courtney, legal competent witnesses, date first herein above written all of whom have signed this act in the presence of and with me recorder.[Signed]E. WoodD.B.
