Act of SaleGeorge Richardson to New Orleans & Nashville Rail Road Company01 June 1847Be it Known and Remembered that on this First day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand Eight hundred and forty seven and in the year of the Independence of the United States the seventy first,Before me, Jacob F. Randolph, Recorder of the Parish of Livingston & State aforesaid duly - commissioned & sworn; Personally came and appeared Mr. George Richardson, a citizen of the aforesaid Parish, who did declare and say that in obedience to an order or decree of the Honorable, the Eight Judicial District court, of the State of Louisiana holden at Springfield, the seat of Justice in & for the Parish of Livingston, commencing on Monday the 2nd day of October 1836, being the first monday in said month; he does by these presents and agreably [sic] to the order of the aforesaid court which order was signed by the presiding Judge on the 7th of the aforesaid month; Sell, transfer, assign, set over, and make a full delivery unto the New Orleans & Nashville Rail Road Company, the following described land situated in the Parish of St. Helena, State of Louisiana, and embraced in Receivers Receipt No. 704, to wit:Lots No. 1,2,4,6 & Seven of section 33 in Township four South of Range Seven East, being a part of the 1294 80/100 Acres of land, embraced in said Receipt, to have and to hold, the same to the said New Orleans and Nashville Rail Road Company, to their proper use and behoof forever, and the said vendor, George Richardson, declares that he will warrant and defend the title of the said before described land to the said New Orleans & Nashville Rail Road Company, against the claims of all persons whomsoever.  Here the vendor George Richardson declared that this act of sale is made to supply an Omission, as the intended to convey the land herein before described to the said Company at the time all the other lands ordered by the aforesaid court were conveyed by Notarial Act passed before the Honorable Kennedy, on the 20th day of January 1837.Then to this act personally came and intervned Edmond B. Richardson, under Tutor to the minor heirs of George Richardson, who did declare and say that he ratifies, and confirms, in his said capacity, a full, clear, and perfect title of the aforesaid described land, to the said New Orleans & Nashville Rail Road Company, and also all the lands described & set forth in an act of sale passed by the vendor George Richardson before the Honorable Thomas Kennedy, Parish Judge, of date the 20th January 1837.  A certificate copy of which is hereto annexed, and binds the heirs at all times to hold good, and valid both act of sale; It appears by the certificate of the Recorder of the aforesaid Parish of Livingston, that there are no Mortgages against the said before described lands.Thus done & passed at my office in the town of Springfield, Parish of Livingston ,State of Louisiana, in presence of Jacob J. Watts & Robert Duncan, competent witnesses residing in the aforesaid Parish, who have hereto signed their names, with the said appearers, and me, the said Recorder, the date above written.[Signed]George RichardsonE.
