State of LouisianaParish of LivingstonTransfer of LandJ. J. Watts, Sheriff. to Charles Myers31 October 1840Whereas, I Jacob J. Watts, Sheriff of the Parish of Livingston, in the state ofLouisianaBy virtue of a writ of Fieri Facias against the property both personal & Real ofCharles Myers & Alfred Richardson at the suit of Woolsey & Montague & to medirected by the Honorable the Parish Court of the Parish of Livingston, State ofLouisiana after having fulfilled and complied with all the proscribed legalrequisites did seize upon the following described tract or parcel of land towit.:Fifty acres more or less together with all the improvements & appurtenancesthereunto belonging & bounded North by David B. Morgan, East by John Mathews,South by James H. Witton, & West by Natalbany river, being the same land onwhich the defendant Charles Myers now lives & pointed out by said Myers tosatisfy the Fi Fa. & cost and having further complied with and performedall the additional previous legal requisites, did expose he same to public saleaccording to law at the Court house door in the town of Springfield on the 31stday of October 1840 when Charles Myers being the highest and last bidder, thesaid before described property was adjudged to the said Charles Myers for theprice of Two hundred Dollars payable twelve months after date for which he hasfurnished his promisary Note with as security & in which land a special Mortgageis retained until final payment which I acknowledge to have recieved [sic] aspayment in full for said before described land.Now therefore, Know all men by this presents, That I the said Sheriff in theconsideration of the premises and by virtue of the laws of the state ofLouisiana in such case made and provided, or sell and transfer the saiddescribed property to the said Charles Myers and all the right and title whichthe said Charles Myers had in or to the said above described property, to haveand to hold the same to the said Charles Myers his heirs and assigns forever.In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name at Livingston, in the saidState of Louisiana, this the 31st day of October in the year one thousand eighthundred and Forty, and the 65th year of the Independence of the United Stated.Signed in presence of D.
