ALLEN BRANCH This branch, long known locally as Allen Branch, was originally called Wax Branch and is so marked on the 1890 J.H. Allen Map. (1) It originates in Section 43, T7S-R2E with some variation shown from map to map, flows southward to cross the 4-H Club Road just east of the Allen-Durand house, then southwestward to form Nickens Lake (on original claims map it is called "Lake or Old River")(2) before entering the Amite River in Section 64, T7S-R2E. ---Mrs. Anita Durand Buess ----------- (1) 1890 J.H.
