ARTHUR'S SLOUGH is a low-lying muddy pond area in parts of Section 7 and 18 of 

T9S-R5E and Section 13, T9S-R4E.  It gets its water source from the Amite River

when it is high.  Arthur's Slough is also known as Choupique Hold. --Mrs. Lucille Cooper
