CASTLE SWAMP  This swamp borders the Amite river in Section 64, T7S-R2E and

Section 44, T7S-R3E.  The original claims map shows it as belonging to 

Daniel Boardman. (1)  Cox in his history o fWest Florida gives an account of

an Englishman named Castle who was forced to leave this general area some-

time after 1783 by the Americans.  Perhaps the swamp was named for him.
