CHRISTY BLUFF Mentioned in Charles Proffit land grant, this bluff is none other than the present day Tickfaw Marina area on La. Hwy. 22. It extends down Tickfaw River from the marina where many nice camps and homes have been built on the beautiful property. On April 26, 1803 Charles Proffit was given a tract of land of 1000 arpents in the new settlement of Santa Helena on the right bank of St. Vincente or Tickfaw River about six miles from Lake Maurepas and about three and on half miles from its confluence with Natalbany River, and in view of the mouth of the Sangriento River (Blood River) at a place commonly called Christy Bluff, bounded on all sides by vacant lands.
