Dumplin Creek, Livingston Parish, Louisiana File prepared by D.N. Pardue ********************************************** Copyright. Reprinted by permission. Dedicated to the memory of Reuben Cooper and Raymond Riggs. DUMPLIN CREEK is the principal drainage canal of the town of Walker since it runs directly through the town in a north-south direction before empty- ing into Middle Colyell Creek. T.B. Milton, life-long resident of Walker, said the name originated when a farmer attempted to cross a rickety bridge built by private citizens at the Police Jury's direction. The bridge gave way, dumping the farmer's load of cotton into the creek. After that incident, the creek became known as Dumplin Creek. ---Clark Forrest, Jr. * * *
