Pitcher's Landing, Livingston Parish, Louisiana File prepared by D.N. Pardue ********************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From the book entitled "The Free State - A History and Place-Names Study of Livingston Parish" by the members of the Livingston Parish American Revolution Bicentennial Committee in cooperation with the Livingston Parish Police Jury and the Louisiana American Revolution Bicentennial Commission, 1976. Reprinted by permission. Dedicated to the memory of Reuben Cooper and Raymond Riggs. PITCHER'S LANDING, also known as Cullom's landing, is on the Natalbany River near Springfield. Schooners, tugs, and barges once delivered goods to Springfield from New Orleans and shipped lumber and timber to distant ports via this landing. It is now used by fishermen. The old Ed Cullom home is located on the end of the Cullom Road and is the home of Robert McQueen and was, until his recent death, the home of Ed Cullom's son-in-law, Kenneth Pitcher. The home was built in 1915 when the Culloms were active in the lumber industry. (1) ---Mrs. Louise N.
