SHELL MOUND As indicated on the Southeastern District Land Map of Louisiana of Dec. 22, 1879, Shell Mound is located in Section 18, T9S-R6E on Black Lake. This shell mound may have been a burial ground for the Indians. The mound from a distance looked like a large white schooner.
