Reprinted by permission. Dedicated to the memory of Reuben Cooper and Raymond Riggs. SPRINGFIELD TERRACE, a subdivision north of Springfield near the inter- section of La. Hwys. 42 and 43 was established in 1954 by Hobart O. Pardue and his son Hobart, Jr. The land was divided into lots and streets to resemble a small town and a deep well was put down to provide free drinking water to the families who built their homes there. The late Mrs. Pardue, the former Estelle Coats, ran the Springfield Pharmacy from 1922 to 1952. In 1967, the Pardues established Pardue Trailer Park to serve people buying mobile homes. The park is near the Terrace. -- Mrs. Louise N. Lee * * * * *
