Traylor Branch, Livingston Parish, Louisiana File prepared by D.N. Pardue ********************************************** Copyright. Reprinted by permission. Dedicated to the memory of Reuben Cooper and Raymond Riggs. TRAYLOR BRANCH has been shown as Taylor Branch on some maps, but the correct name is Traylor. The branch is a tributary of the Little Natalbany River, and converges with it about four and one-half miles north of Albany. It originates north of Fourth Ward School in Section 28, T5S-R6E near Bradford Cemetery. According to records at the State Land Office in Baton Rouge, William Traylor purchased 80 acres of land from the state on Feb. 20, 1862 for $10.03. State Tract Book 23, page 60, identifies the land specifically as being in Sections 21 and 22, just east of the Fourth Ward School site and the Bankston Cemetery. The branch traverses the land and divides it into two almost equal parts. ---Clark Forrest, Jr. * * * * *
