Utah, Livingston Parish, Louisiana File prepared by D.N. Pardue ********************************************** Copyright. All rights reserved. http://usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://usgwarchives.net/la/lafiles.htm ********************************************** From the book entitled "The Free State - A History and Place-Names Study of Livingston Parish" by the members of the Livingston Parish American Revolution Bicentennial Committee in cooperation with the Livingston Parish Police Jury and the Louisiana American Revolution Bicentennial Commission, 1976. Reprinted by permission. Dedicated to the memory of Reuben Cooper and Raymond Riggs. UTAH was a short-lived post office established Nov. 7, 1921 with Wincy M. Aydell as the first postmaster. The office was discontinued on April 29, 1922 and the mail was then sent to Walker. (1) At present it is not known why the post office was given the name Utah. A 1934 map of Livingston Parish published by the Mississippi River Commission shows Utah situated southeast of Denham Springs. ----Clark Forrest, Jr. ----------- (1) "US Post Office Records" (Record Group 28), National Archives. * * * * *
