Vol. 6, December 1981 The Memorial Tower, also referred to as the Campanile, the bell or clock tower, or simply the tower, has become the symbol of LSU. A popular subject with photographers and artists, the Tower's picture appears on postcards, in sketches and paintings, and on the covers of numerous University publications. The Tower has been a landmark since 1926 when it was dedicated as a memorial to the 1,447 Louisianians who died in World War I. The names of those to whom it is dedicated are inscribed on four bronze plaques within the rotunda of the Tower. Those from Livingston Parish include: John W. CAUSEY Ivy COURTNEY Jessie J.
