Vol. 4, December 1979 AN ENTERTAINMENT The three-act Melo-Drama entitled, "Deacon Jones and Miss Spriggs," was given to a very appreciative audience last Wednesday night in the new school building by the Port Vincent Dramatic Club. The audience received the play with great pleasure, as it was very interesting to both young and old. We were very sorry that the weather was so bad and some missed seeing the Deacon pop to Miss Spriggs, while Topsy and Frank were waiting for an opportunity to play some trick upon them. Then the thunder storm arouses uncanny feelings in the Deacon's mind, when Ned enters and discovers ghosts in the Deacon's home. The two young rascals appear on the scene and cause the Deacon to show up a little of his temper. The rich Englishman arrives and May she tries very hard to catch him, but her jealousy gets the better of her good sense. Again, poor Ned falls into the hands of his tormentors. Mrs. Jones finds married life a failure and Topsy gives her a lesson on how to manage a husband, in which she is very successful. May goes to meet her fate, but fate comes to meet her....
