ADAMS, JOHN DENMAN “JOHN D”

John Denman “John D” Adams, 93, of Livingston died Wednesday, Oct 14, 2009.  
He was born in Holden on Aug 28, 1916.  He graduated from Holden High School 
and attended Southeastern Louisiana Institute before World War II interrupted 
his studies.  He served in the US Army Air Forces in the Pacific Theater from 
January 1941 until July 1945.  He achieved the rank of staff sergeant and 
earned the good conduct medal, Pacific Theater with three battle stars and the 
Philippines Liberation Medal for his actions in combat.  After the war he 
continued his education and graduated from Tulane University.  John D was 
employed with the Louisiana Department of Highways from 1947 until his 
retirement in 1972.  He continued to work as a land surveyor well into the 
2000s.  He loved music and playing the fiddle and mandolin.

Visitation was at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Thursday, Oct 15, 
2009 and Friday, Oct 16, 2009 until the funeral services in the funeral home 
chapel with interment in Stafford Cemetery in Holden.
He is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law; four grandsons and 
granddaughters-in-law, two granddaughters and a grandson-in-law, and eight 
great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents, George and Gertrude Adams; a sister, 
Katherine Adams Sullivan; his first wife, Maudie Roberts Adams; and his second 
wife, Violet Kennedy Adams
