He was a native of Baton Rouge and was retired from Exxon Refinery in 2005. He was a veteran of the US Marines having served in the Vietnam War. Visitation was held at Resthaven Funeral Home in Baton Rouge on Tuesday, April 2, 2010 and resumed on Wednesday, April 21, 2010 until the service conducted by Deacon Brent Duplessis with interment in Resthaven Gardens of Memory. His loving wife of 30 years, three sons and two daughters-in-law, a daughter and son-in-law, eight grandchildren, a sister and a brother-in-law and his wife survive him. Preceding him in death were his parents, Elmo and Edith Ashford; his mother-in-law, Venia Swarmer; and a brother-in-law, Ronald Swarmer. In Lieu of flowers donations were to be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
