He was a native of Livingston Parish and owner of Charles Avants Logging. Mr. Avants served in the US Army. Mr. Avants was born on July 17, 1934. Visitation was held at Seale Funeral Home in Denham Springs on Monday, Oct 19, 2009 and resumed on Tuesday, Oct 20, 2009 until funeral services in the funeral home chapel. Interment was in Evergreen Memorial Park. His wife of 31 years, six daughters and five sons-in-law, three sons and daughters-in-law, 19 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, a brother, two sisters and a brother-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews survive him. Preceding him in death was his parents, James F. and Lola Young Avants; two sisters, Bernice Harwell and Yvonne Blount; three brothers, Roy Avants, James “Pete” Avants, and James Sibley; a brother-in-law, Glen A. Houston; and a grandson, Cecil Courtney.
